  • The 5-sq. km. Higatangan Island, located west of Naval, is a one-hour boat ride from the town.  The island has a crescent-shaped white sand beach, majestic rock formations on the western side and coral gardens.  It has a number of interesting features.  Biak Na Bato, a two-meter wide and 30-m. long crack in a rock formation, is it located on the western part of the island. Ka Ventong Cave, in Brgy. Libertad, is located 1.5 kms. from the barangay proper.  Marcos Hill was named after the late president who took refuge here during World War II.  It offers a panoramic view of Samar, Leyte, Cebu and Masbate.  The Moving Sandbar, extending 200 m. into the sea, periodically shifts as wind and sea current change
