Tabuk Island

Tabuk lighthouse and observation tower

The local government has erected a bamboo boardwalk traversing the mangrove island. There are 6 species of mangroves growing in the area and and bounded by seagrasses. The boardwalk serves as an easier access to the other side of the island where local birds and other migratory birds converge to roost and feed. Among them is the Philippine Mallard (Anas luzonica). Birdwatchers can visit this place to identify the species frequenting the island. There are five species of fruit-eating bats inhabiting the island including the Giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox (Acerodon jubatus). The bats fly away from the island to the mainland to look for food at nighttime. Bamboo Boardwalk
